The story behind the headline  David Fairbrother Kilo Company 42 Commando
David Fairbrother
Dave was one of the kindest souls you were ever likely to meet, he was... frankly... hard as nails.
On 19 September 2011 David Fairbrother tragically died in Afghanistan while serving his country as a Royal Marine of Kilo Company 42 Commando. Dave was a big fan of the infamous event called "Tough Guy". He did it 3 times in the past - once dressed as a lifeguard, once as a smurf and once in a mankini.

As a skydiver, he made many friends through the sport. And on January 29th 2012, eight of his ex-Leeds Uni skydiver mates will compete in the Winter Tough Guy event in his honour!

Although Dave was one of the kindest souls you were ever likely to meet, he was... frankly... hard as nails. The eight of us on the other hand are basically a bunch of pansies by comparison, and would probably never dream of doing something like this if not inspired by our greatly missed friend. In other words, this is going to be seriously hard! The training is well under way though: Fitness levels have increased, bellies have shrunk and levels of regular alcohol consumption have been carefully reconsidered.

Oh and by the way, we will be taking part dressed as fairies.
